Nepal Trekking Grades

There are different places in Nepal where one can go trekking. According to the distances and the roughness of the trekking trails, the trekking trails can be graded to different standards. The grade of the trekking trails can also differ due to their types i.e. tea houses trekking and camping trekking.  But besides these types, the grading of the trekking can be done regarding other several matters which may differ according to the trekking regions and other several causes. Mainly the trekking trails of Nepal can be categorized into four different types they are easy, moderate, challenging, and demanding.

Grade A (Easy Trek)

The easiest trekking trail in Nepal will generally include short walking trails viewing the wonderful sceneries of the surroundings. These types of trekking regions will be well facilitated with all those services like lodging and food.  This type of trekking is specially designed for beginner trekkers who are starting trekking for the first time and so on. In such trekking, the trekkers have to walk for about 5 to 6 hours through the main trail. Such trekking can be done at different places in Nepal like Ghorepani Poonhill trekking, Ghandruk trekking, easy trekking, royal trekking, Jomsom Muktinath trekking, Panchase trekking, Helambu trekking, and Shivapuri trekking. The trekking in these regions will be easy as well as panoramic as we can enjoy the splendid view of the surroundings during this trek.

Grade B (Moderate Trek)

The grade B trek can be categorized as moderate trekking which will be a little tougher than the easy trekking. So these types of trekking will be suitable for those trekkers who have little more experience in walking at the different places of Nepal. But the walking will be exciting as we can get a closer view of the high hills along with the local settlements of the local people in the surroundings.  Some of the moderate trekking trails of Nepal are the Annapurna base camp, Langtang regions, Ganesh Himal trekking, Rara Lake trekking, and other several beautiful places in Nepal.  Moderate trekking will take the trekkers to high altitudes offering a wonderful view of the surroundings including the beautiful mountains and some dense forest.

Grade C (Challenging Trek)

The challenging trek is a little more strenuous and difficult than the moderate trekking in Nepal. For such trekking, the trekkers may need some mountaineering skills along with good physical fitness along with the mind. The trekkers may need the help of experienced and qualified trekking guides for their help during this trek. Such types of trekking will need long walking through the trail exploring the regions. Such trekking will take the trekkers to an altitude of above 5500 meters.  Generally, these types of trekking will continue for about 7 to 25 days. These types of trekking will take the trekkers to a high altitude. In some parts of these types of trekking, there may be even peak climbing.

These types of trekking can be either in tea houses or camping. Some of the challenging trekking destinations of Nepal are the Annapurna circuit trekking, Everest base camp trekking, Makalu base camp trekking, Everest region, upper Mustang trekking, remote regions of Nepal, and other several beautiful places of Nepal. Generally, these types of trekking trails will be less visited by tourists and less explored too. Thus, trekkers on the challenging trek will get enormous opportunities to explore the local regions and other several factors of the trekking trail. The trekkers may have to acclimatize at different places while trekking at the challenging trekking trails.

Grade D (Demanding Trek)

The adventurous and the most challenging and risky of all types of trekking is demanding trekking. With its name, these types of trekking demand hard devotion and a better physique along with mind while doing such types of trekking.  Generally, such types of trekking will be long walking and will continue for a long interval of time. A high level of preparation is needed before going for these types of trekking. The high hills expedition comes under it along with several other activities.

The trekkers have to carry the necessary types of equipment including the high altitude sickness medicine too while doing such trekking because due to high altitudes, the trekkers may suffer from altitude sickness. The trekking in several regions of Nepal like the upper Dolpo region, Kanchenjunga trekking, Manaslu trekking regions, ganja la pass trekking, Simikot to Mt. Kailash trekking, Dhaulagiri trekking and trekking at other several regions of Nepal.
