With mountains as its backdrop, the monastery at Tengboche looks more magnificent in the morning. At this moment, you can take pictures of the monastery with the beautiful Himalayan range of Mt. Kwangde and the scenery around you and start your journey as usual. You choose the upper trail for better views on the way to Pangboche. Once we reached the top of Dughla Pass, we will see many stupas, Chhorten, and memorial parks come into our sight. These are for all those trekkers and mountaineers who died while attempting to climb Everest.
The place was giving a different vibe, was it good or bad feelings? Walking around the painful memories of the great mountaineers, we started ascending further to where the trail was leading us. The trail was getting exciting as we were trekking higher. We reached the glacial moraine of Khumbu Glacier.
The walk along the arid terrace with awesome views of mountains, when you approach the yak herder's place called Dusa, the valley begins to narrow and you continue through Phulung Karpo, the campsite of the first successful Everest Expedition in 1953. Above Phulung Karpo is Chola Lake. As you move on, the majestic view of Mt. Pumori (7138 m/ 23418 ft) comes into your eyesight. As the trail descends and curves, Mt. Pumori disappears from view and gradually you come across a roaring stream.
The trekking trail to Gorakshep goes ahead through the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. You will trek continue through the pyramid. Ahead on the trail, you see the crest of the north ridge of Mt. Everest along with Mt. Pumori, Mt. Mahalangur, Mt. Lingtern, Mt. Khumbutse, Mt. Nuptse, etc. A small climb would take you to Thangma Riju from where you perceive a 360-degree vista of snowy mountains.
Climbing gently up to the top through the torrent of Changri Glacier, You catch your first glimpse of Kalapatthar, a grey-green knoll lower than Mt. Pumori. As you reach Gorakshep, you will find snow-capped mountains looming all around you including the top of the world - Mt. Everest view. You almost certainly will have worn out by now so you take some rest and have your lunch and get on the trail to Everest Base Camp through the once vast Gorakshep valley.
Continuing straight ahead, you come through the Indian army mountaineers' memorials. Only upon reaching the Mt. Everest Base Camp, you will be thankful for the Everest climbers who daringly stepped the hazardous route through the Khumbu icefall. Mountaineers' tents stand out in bright colors against the monotony of gray surroundings, especially in the spring. Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Khumbuste, and Mt.Pumori are the mountains you can view from the Base camp. Everest is not visible from where you stand. You have to ascend more till Kalapatthar to snap the beauty of Mt Everest. Return back to Gorakshep overnight.
Today is the high point of your trip. Stretch you're both your legs early in the morning to catch the remarkable views from Kalapatthar, the first light of day shining on Mount Everest. However, you need to get prepared for an early morning 4/5 am dark and cold temperature (-10 to -14 C) departure beforehand. Further, there is always the potential for a chill wind which is quite common. Familiar peaks such as Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbutse, and Mt. Changtse tower to the East even as Everest begins to reveal itself emerging between the West shoulder crest and Mt. Nuptse.
During the ascent to Kala Patthar, you can pause to catch your breath at several marvelous viewpoints to snap pictures. Ascending for several hours, you reach Kalapatthar. From this juncture, you move quickly to climb the rocky outcrop near the summit marked by cairns and prayer flags. As you come near the top, you sit on the Kalapatthar where rocks your eyes take the unbelievable Himalayan landscape, traveling from one mighty massif to another. Liberate as many pictures as you can and take the view with your mind's eye to the last natural life. On being back to Gorakshep, you have breakfast and wait for other members to return back. Rest your fatigue of acclimatization reflecting the erasable beauties of the Himalayas at Pheriche Village.
Today, you will trek down through the hillside by rhododendron and juniper trees. If you are there in spring, pink and red Rhododendron flowers ablaze your atmosphere, Depending on your hunger and situation, you either have your lunch in Pangboche or wait until you reach Phunki Tenga village for lunch. Cross the prayer flag festooned bridge over the Dudh Koshi River; the trekking trail follows the Dudh Koshi gorge downhill rapidly through the pine forests.
The path ultimately reaches Sansa which is the major trail junction in the region. You stop at Kayangjuma (3570 m/11,710 ft) for a relaxed tea coffee. The trail to Namche Bazaar clings to the steep forested slope beyond Kayangjuma village winding through several bends. We keep a watch out for wildlife such as mountain goats, snow leopards, colorful pheasants, etc.
While short-lived through the forest by the trail. After passing a Chorten, you reach the army camp at Namche Bazaar. At this point, you would like to take a long last look and picture back to Mt. Lhotse, the tip of Mt. Everest and Tengboche. Upon success, your lodge, enjoy a nice hot shower and have a very stress-free sleep in your cozy room in Namche Bazaar. Though you will have some pain around your thigh due to continuous movement the memories that are stuck in your mind and heart slowly cover the pain.
Early in the morning will slowly pinch your ears and knock your head to wake up for the trip. Though it will be not easy to wrap up the warm blanket, we must say goodbye to Namche today. Extend your body for a moment and fill your stomach with warm and mouth-watering breakfast to petrol down the trail and descends gently downward. You need to walk slowly and under control as your shaky legs constantly battle the rocky terrain. Journey to the suspension bridges over the fast-flowing "Dudh Koshi River" and its tributaries, the trail becomes more leveled and natural. By today you will start to get warm up by the light wind. Any outstanding sore throats and colds will slowly vanish from today as you pass through this delightful mountain air.
While you are traveling the same route downhill, you feel finally different. You just snap a mixture of open plains, rhododendron, and pine forests, and in the space snow-covered peaks. You will be exposed to the Sherpa villages noticing inspiring faith in Buddhism and the culture of prayer stones and prayer flags while you walk through the Sherpa villages. Upon arrival at Lukla village, stretch those sore legs and recall the experience of the last couple of weeks.
Your familiarity is the conclusion of a fantastic trek on a happy note with everyone back safe and sound with a smile on their faces! Lots of memories wriggle around your mind and heart. You will feel that you have touched the feet of the Highest Mountain Peak of the world, Mount Everest and it is leaning down to grace you for your happy and prosperous life. Slowly your eyebrows get heavy due to tiredness and you will be lost in the lap of Lukla village waiting for the day to say goodbye to Lukla village. Last day Trek celebration in Lukla.

Trekking to Everest Base Camp. Highly recommended
9th September, 2022
Before the EBC trip, I knew this could be the life trip, so I've researched, read through a lot of reviews, websites and asked around my friends to choose the best tour company as far as I can for my trip. And by word of mouth, I chose this company, Nepal Unique Treks. Not be quite 100% confident at that time. I contacted Dil to arrange the tour agenda, airport pickup, packing list recommendation... Everything is easier than I thought. Although Dil had to take a group to EBC at that time (hardly access to Internet along the way), but he tried to reply my every single questions with patience and carefulness. The day I came to Kathmandu, the flight was delayed more than a hour, but Dil still waited for me there and took me to the very nice hotel in Thamel. On the way to EBC, I knew that me and my friend stopped a lot to take the photos (I myself took around 3k photos for EBC trip). Our guide still waited for us patiently to make sure 2 of us and him always stick together, no one left behind. Some days, the weather is very cold, standing in one place will make you get colder than walking, but our Guide was always standing there and waited for us to take the photos/changing clothes/drinking water/resting. Three of us talked and laughed a lot along the way....
