A great alternative to Annapurna Base Camp Trek!
Located just east of main Annapurna region (ABC), it is a well-kept Himalayan secret of Nepal. Due to its relative remoteness and less promotion, very few trekkers make their way to the Mardi Himal Base Camp, majestically located at the base of Mardi Himal and stunning Machhapuchhre. The impact of mass tourism is yet flourish the region.
The Mardi Himal Trail goes through narrow winding trail and enters deep in to rhododendron forest until you climb out to 3,300m elevation. As you rise, the forest line gradually gives way to alpine scrubs and mountain landscapes, with tempting view of Mardhi Himal, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.
From high camp, we hike up to Mardi Himal Base Camp and finally to upper viewpoint, which offers you a complete solitary trail filled with emerald forests, intriguing villages, lush valleys, terraced farmlands, rivers and tantalizing Himalayas. The returning journey takes 2 days staying at different villages – so you don’t have to backtrack via same route.
The tea house and home stay along the Mardi Himal Trek Route are basic: offering you limited services (but improving). However, the warmness and hospitality of locals are really intriguing.

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport (1,300m/4,264ft)
Drive: Kathmandu – Pokhara (827m/2,700ft) – 6 – 7 hours
Trek Starts: Drive to Phedi and trek to Deurali (2,100m/6,720ft) – 30 minutes’ drive, 4 – 5 hours trek
Deurali – Forest Camp (2,520m/8,064ft) – 6 – 7 hours trek
Forest Camp – Low Camp (2,970m/9,504ft) – 5 – 6 hours trek
Low Camp – High Camp (3,540m/11,328ft) – 3 – 4 hours trek
High Camp – Upper Viewpoint (4,250m/13,600ft) and trek back to High Camp – 2 – 3 hours trek
High Camp – Sidhing Village (1,700m/5,440ft) – 6 – 7 hours trek
Sidhing Village – Lumre 3 hrs trek and 2 hour drive to Pokhara Domestic Airport fly to Kathmandu
