When Sir Edmund Hillary climbed in 1953, many local Sherpa were involved as supporters. and Late Tenzing Norgay Sherpa was the main guide who led expeditions. And still, Sherpa culture, traditions, and Buddhist religion are preserved by the community and the Nepalese government.
Everest Sherpa Village Trek starts from Lukla Airport to the Khumjung Village via Phakding, Manjo, and Namche Bazaar. This village is the beginning of the trek to the Everest Base Camp Trek. Through Namche Bazaar, we can go to Renjola Pass via Thame Village, and there are many alternative trekking routes to go to Everest Base Camp Chola Pass Gokyo Trek. Which way to do trekking and how long you want to do trekking will depend on your Budget and vacation. But most of the visitors choose the Everest Base Camp regular trek and the Gokyo Chola Pass Everest Base Camp Trek.
During the Everest Sherpa Village trek, explore the local village and stay in a Normal Tea house, which helps the Sherpa community indirectly. Also, if you need Luxury accommodation or Normal type of Guesthouses, there are options, depending on your budget, you may choose your Trekking Package.
Everest Sherpa Village Trek is a moderate trekking destination in the Everest region, but it is an easier trek to compare Everest Base Camp, Gokyo Valley Trek, or High Pass Trek with Everest Base Camp. Treks start from 2850m above sea level and go up to 3900m. The 1st-day trek from Lukla to Phakding is easy, but the second day is quite hard and steep up from Phakding to Namche. After Namche, you will explore villages, which is easier than the Phakding to Namche Trek.
Namche Bazaar is located at 3440m, where every trekker stays 2 nights for acclimatization and goes higher to continue to Everest Base Camp. Also, Namche Bazaar is a type of modern city where many facilities for trekkers, like a luxury Hotel, Shopping, Night Music, Massage, coffee shop, and many foreign restaurants with the Everest Documentary Show.

Your Everest Sherpa Village Trek begins with 5/6 hrs drive trough himalayan local village to Ramechhap and from there an exciting mountain flight to Lukla, known as the gateway to the Everest region. During the scenic Himalayan flight, enjoy breathtaking aerial views of snow-capped peaks, deep valleys, and traditional mountain villages.
After landing at Lukla Airport, you will start trekking through beautiful pine forests, suspension bridges, and Sherpa settlements along the Dudh Koshi River. Passing small villages like Chheplung and Ghat, you will arrive at the peaceful village of Phakding.
Phakding is a charming riverside village surrounded by Himalayan scenery and traditional Sherpa culture, making it an ideal place for your first overnight stay in the Everest region.

After breakfast, continue trekking alongside the Dudh Koshi River through beautiful rhododendron and pine forests. Cross several famous suspension bridges, including the iconic Hillary Suspension Bridge.
The trail enters Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for rare wildlife, dramatic landscapes, and stunning mountain scenery. After a gradual ascent, you will climb steeply toward Namche Bazaar, the main trading hub of the Everest region.
Namche Bazaar is a vibrant Sherpa town filled with bakeries, cafes, trekking shops, and panoramic viewpoints. If the weather is clear, you may enjoy your first distant view of Mount Everest along with Lhotse and Ama Dablam.

Today’s trail follows an ancient Tibetan trade route toward the traditional Sherpa village of Thame. The path offers peaceful trekking away from the busier Everest Base Camp trail.

After breakfast, trek through beautiful Himalayan terrain toward Khumjung, one of the largest Sherpa settlements in the Everest region.
Khumjung is famous for its stone-built houses, potato farms, Buddhist monastery, and the historic Hillary School established by Sir Edmund Hillary. The village offers incredible views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Khumbila Peak.
You may also visit the famous Khumjung Monastery, which is believed to preserve a legendary Yeti scalp.

Today you will trek through rhododendron forests and scenic mountain trails toward the famous Tengboche Monastery, the largest Buddhist monastery in the Everest region.

Early in the morning, you will take a scenic mountain flight from Lukla to Ramechhap Airport. During peak trekking seasons in Nepal, Lukla flights are often operated through Ramechhap due to air traffic management in Kathmandu.
The short but spectacular flight offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountain range, deep valleys, rivers, and traditional mountain villages. Upon arrival at Ramechhap, you will begin a comfortable drive back to Kathmandu through beautiful countryside landscapes, terraced farms, rivers, and local villages.
After reaching Kathmandu, you can relax at your hotel or spend your free time exploring the vibrant streets, local markets, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, cafes, and cultural attractions of Nepal’s capital city.
