While many trek along the trail for weeks to reach the base camp, there is an alternative way to enjoy this journey: a helicopter flight to the Everest Base Camp, which will let you experience this journey in a single day.
The heli tour begins with an adventurous flight to the gateway to the Everest Region, Lukla Airport, where we take a break until the Helicopter refuels. Moving further, we again fly towards the Kalapatthar viewpoint, passing over the Everest Base Camp. Finally, the tour approaches the Everest View Hotel, where travelers can enjoy spectacular and panoramic views of the peaks and a great breakfast. After that, we retraced back to Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal.
In this adventurous one-day helicopter flight to the Everest Base Camp, the views of the lush hills, terrains, terrace fields, glaciers, base camp, and mountain peaks take you to the place of your dreams. Unlike what we see on the Everest Base Camp Trekking journey for weeks to reach this point, we will look at this beauty from an aerial view.

Insurance is mandatory even though it's a 1-day tour via Helicopter flight. Since we will reach extreme altitudes, where weather and health risks can be unpredictable. Having proper insurance ensures peace of mind and financial protection in case of emergencies.
To begin with, there are different types of insurance you can get. Some of them provide medical coverage, emergency evacuation, cancelation insurance, and many more. However, we highly recommend you take the insurance package that covers all of these. Below are some crucial points on why getting Insurance can be a game-changer for you on this tour
The helicopter lands at Everest Base Camp (5,364m) or Kalapatthar (5,545m), where oxygen levels are low. In addition, altitude sickness can affect anyone, and evacuation might be necessary. Insurance covering high-altitude medical emergencies is crucial.
Weather in the Himalayas changes rapidly. Sudden storms, fog, or strong winds can delay or cancel flights. Trip cancelation insurance helps you recover costs if your tour is rescheduled or called off.
If a medical emergency arises at a high altitude, an immediate helicopter evacuation to Kathmandu may be required. Without insurance, evacuation costs can be extremely high. Proper coverage ensures quick and affordable medical transport.
Though rare, baggage may get misplaced during transfers. Insurance helps cover losses or delays, ensuring you’re not left stranded without essentials.
To wrap up, Insurance can be a great thing even if we are touring in a helicopter flight for just a day. They are meant to protect us in emergency conditions and will come in handy if there arises any emergency.

Your day starts at around 5:00 A.M., as you need to wake up and freshen up yourself before checking the backpack for the final time. At 5:30 A.M., the representatives from Nepal Unique Treks will pick you up in a private vehicle and drive you to the Tribhuwan International Airport. The bus vehicle will directly drop you off at the domestic terminals of the airport. As the streets are quiet and free from traffic jams, it won't take much time to reach the airport from the hotel.
As you arrive at the Airport and go for some essential checking after which you will have the boarding pass in your hands. After that, the visitors will be taken to the helicopter and carefully settled by the staff. Within a few minutes, the helicopter takes off into the clouds. The flight ascends toward the east, following the legendary Jiri route, weaving through alpine forests and traditional villages, offering a mesmerizing contrast of green hills and towering white peaks.
Within about 30 hours of scenic and luxurious flight over the valleys, cities, forests, etc, the helicopter lands at the Tenzing & Hilary Airport (Lukla). This landing is necessary during the EBC Heli Tour for the helicopter to refuel. In the meantime, travelers can experience the cool breeze coming straight from the Himalayas. A little while ago, you were in a hustling and bustling capital city of Nepal, and within just 30 minutes, you reached a peaceful and quiet place. Therefore, take your time to admire the dramatic scenery offered by Lukla. Once the helicopter is fueled up and ready to go; that's when the real adventure begins. From there, we will fly towards the Everest Base camp.
As the helicopter lifts off from Lukla, you can see that the landscape transforms into a world of ice, rock, and towering Himalayas. Furthermore, you will also witness the massive Khumbu Glacier along with several peaks, including Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Pumori. A little later, the helicopter will be hovering over the Everest Base Camp (5364 meters). Make sure that you look below to see many trekkers and summiteers walking on the Base Camp. Moreover, there will also be many tents settled by the climbers to rest in the Everest Base Camp before summiting the Everest Peak (8850 meters).
After that, the helicopter lands on the Kalapatthar viewpoint (5550 meters), where you will get off and enjoy the views for a while. As you step onto the rocky terrain, the sheer magnitude of the mountains surrounding you is overwhelming. Besides, the cold, thin air carries a sense of reverence, and for 10 to 15 minutes, you stand face-to-face with Everest. Let us tell you that this will probably be the best experience for any visitors.
After taking some amazing glimpses of Mount Everest, surrounding peaks, and valleys from the Kalapatthar viewpoint, the visitors will board the helicopter again. From there, the helicopter takes you to the Everest View Hotel, the hotel located at the highest altitude of 3,880 meters above sea level. Here, you enjoy a hearty breakfast, sipping warm tea as the sunlight dances over the snow-covered peaks. Along with that, the Everest View Hotel also offers mesmerizing panoramic views of the Himalayas.
With that breakfast getting over, we almost come to the end of this one-day Helicopter Tour to the Everest Base Camp. After breakfast, you will board the helicopter and go for a quick flight to Lukla. Just like it happened in the arriving journey, the helicopter takes a refueling break in Lukla (Tenzing & Hilary Airport). After the refueling is done, the visitors will be flown to Kathmandu which takes about half an hour. By 11:00 AM, you’re back in the bustling streets of Kathmandu, yet a part of you still lingers in the mountains. This officially puts an end to the adventurous Everest Base Camp Helicopter Day Tour.

For a Day tour via helicopter, we might think any season throughout the year might be perfect. However, to get an unobstructed aerial view during the flight, we need to choose the right season and fly in a perfect weather condition. Moreover, clear skies, stable weather, and breathtaking views make spring and autumn the best times for this adventure.
Spring(March to May) offers vibrant landscapes, blooming rhododendrons, and crystal-clear mountain views. Mornings are generally bright, and the weather remains stable. The Himalayas stand majestic against a deep blue sky. However, this is a peak season, so expect some crowding at landing spots.
Autumn (September to November) is another ideal time, bringing crisp air, mild temperatures, and excellent visibility. The monsoon clears away dust, leaving the skies exceptionally clear. Snow-capped peaks and golden hills create a stunning contrast. This season also attracts many travelers, so booking in advance is wise.
Winter (December to February) flights offer breathtaking, snow-covered scenery and clear skies, but temperatures can be freezing. The helicopter tour is still possible. However, the weather conditions can affect the regular flights. Fewer tourists mean a quieter experience.
Monsoon (June to Early September) is the least favorable season due to heavy rainfall, clouds, and unpredictable weather. Flight delays and cancellations are common. If you plan a trip during this time, flexibility is essential.
Enjoy the breathtaking views, but always prioritize safety first!
Fasten your seat belt securely once seated in the helicopter.
Do not change your seat or stand up during the flight. Sudden movements can affect balance.
Never throw anything out of the helicopter, as it can be hazardous to people and the environment.
Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the helicopter.
Wait at the helipad until the crew calls you to board. Always follow their instructions.
Approach and exit the helicopter from the designated side, as directed by the pilot.
Keep loose items like scarves, hats, and bags secured to prevent them from being blown away.
High-altitude conditions can be extreme. Stay hydrated and inform the crew if you feel unwell.
Listen carefully to the safety briefing before takeoff. Your safety depends on following instructions.
Enjoy the breathtaking views, but always prioritize safety first!
