Itinerary
Day 1: One Day Itinerary for the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Day Tours
Drive to the Airport
Your day starts at around 5:00 A.M., as you need to wake up and freshen up yourself before checking the backpack for the final time. At 5:30 A.M., the representatives from Nepal Unique Treks will pick you up in a private vehicle and drive you to the Tribhuwan International Airport. The bus vehicle will directly drop you off at the domestic terminals of the airport. As the streets are quiet and free from traffic jams, it won't take much time to reach the airport from the hotel.
Take off from the Tribhuwan International Airport
As you arrive at the Airport and go for some essential checking after which you will have the boarding pass in your hands. After that, the visitors will be taken to the helicopter and carefully settled by the staff. Within a few minutes, the helicopter takes off into the clouds. The flight ascends toward the east, following the legendary Jiri route, weaving through alpine forests and traditional villages, offering a mesmerizing contrast of green hills and towering white peaks.
Landing in Lukla - The Gateway to Everest
Within about 30 hours of scenic and luxurious flight over the valleys, cities, forests, etc, the helicopter lands at the Tenzing & Hilary Airport (Lukla). This landing is necessary during the EBC Heli Tour for the helicopter to refuel. In the meantime, travelers can experience the cool breeze coming straight from the Himalayas. A little while ago, you were in a hustling and bustling capital city of Nepal, and within just 30 minutes, you reached a peaceful and quiet place. Therefore, take your time to admire the dramatic scenery offered by Lukla. Once the helicopter is fueled up and ready to go; that's when the real adventure begins. From there, we will fly towards the Everest Base camp.
Flying Over Everest Base Camp and Landing at Kalapatthar
As the helicopter lifts off from Lukla, you can see that the landscape transforms into a world of ice, rock, and towering Himalayas. Furthermore, you will also witness the massive Khumbu Glacier along with several peaks, including Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Pumori. A little later, the helicopter will be hovering over the Everest Base Camp (5364 meters). Make sure that you look below to see many trekkers and summiteers walking on the Base Camp. Moreover, there will also be many tents settled by the climbers to rest in the Everest Base Camp before summiting the Everest Peak (8850 meters).
After that, the helicopter lands on the Kalapatthar viewpoint (5550 meters), where you will get off and enjoy the views for a while. As you step onto the rocky terrain, the sheer magnitude of the mountains surrounding you is overwhelming. Besides, the cold, thin air carries a sense of reverence, and for 10 to 15 minutes, you stand face-to-face with Everest. Let us tell you that this will probably be the best experience for any visitors.
Breakfast with a View at the Everest View Hotel
After taking some amazing glimpses of Mount Everest, surrounding peaks, and valleys from the Kalapatthar viewpoint, the visitors will board the helicopter again. From there, the helicopter takes you to the Everest View Hotel, the hotel located at the highest altitude of 3,880 meters above sea level. Here, you enjoy a hearty breakfast, sipping warm tea as the sunlight dances over the snow-covered peaks. Along with that, the Everest View Hotel also offers mesmerizing panoramic views of the Himalayas.
Return to Lukla & Kathmandu
With that breakfast getting over, we almost come to the end of this one-day Helicopter Tour to the Everest Base Camp. After breakfast, you will board the helicopter and go for a quick flight to Lukla. Just like it happened in the arriving journey, the helicopter takes a refueling break in Lukla (Tenzing & Hilary Airport). After the refueling is done, the visitors will be flown to Kathmandu which takes about half an hour. By 11:00 AM, you’re back in the bustling streets of Kathmandu, yet a part of you still lingers in the mountains. This officially puts an end to the adventurous Everest Base Camp Helicopter Day Tour.
