The beauty of Tilicho Lake is legendary and is a bucket-list destination for every nature lover. From beautiful Highland sceneries to mighty peaks and turquoise-tinted lakes, Tilicho Lake is a true paradise on the planet. Nestled at the majestic arena of high mountains, Tilicho Lake Trek will lead you through scenic sub-tropical & alpine forests, climb over high passes, and offer you the most memorable experience.

Annapurna Region’s beauty is unparalleled and the trek to Tilicho Lake takes you to the heart of Annapurna region with mighty peaks on either side. Trekkers will walk for several days and camp near Tilicho Base Camp before making a final climb to Tilicho Lake.

This Tilicho Lake Trek is quite challenging because there are some long walking hours and you have crossed Thorong La Pass 5,416m, but the rewards are simply unbelievable. You will walk through a mixed forest of rhododendrons and oak, with an opportunity to encounter wildlife, scramble over steep ridges, and camp at the base camp (if a teahouse is not available).

The Tilicho Lake Trail follows an anti-clockwise route behind the Annapurna massif (50km long). As you gain height, lowland Hindu communities gradually give way to Tibetan groups and the architecture changes accordingly. Some significant landmarks along the trail are the Upper Pisang – Manang route: it offers a close glimpse of local architecture and a close view of Annapurna I and IV.  Manang commands the picture-perfect view of Gangapurna and Annapurna III.

From Manang, the trail follows the westward route of Marsyangdi Valley and climbs into the heart of Annapurna – Nilgiri and Muktinath Himal at Tilicho Lake. We return to Khangsar and take a shortcut route to Yak Kharaka that connects the high pass trail. We cross Thorong La Pass and descend to Muktinath Valley. A short hike from Muktinath takes us to Jomsom where we catch a flight to Pokhara.

Though Tilicho Lake Trek is demanding, it is of moderate intensity and can be undertaken even by novice trekkers. This trek to Tilicho is designed for energetic and flexible people with a great passion for adventure and nature. Previously outdoor experience would be an asset but not mandatory.
